Album Notes
New York musician and promoter Bill Ward unites with one of the Northeast's brightest young bluegrass ensembles for this unique holiday record. Featuring Joey, Kim, Ben, Eddy, and TJ Doerfel on bass, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and banjo respectively, this project presents an opus of Ward's original Christmas tunes.

Recorded in Chautauqua Institution's Hurlbut Church, this album is a collection of songs written over the last ten years and recorded in an acoustic format. The bonus tracks on the cd include Ward's previously released “Everybody Look at the Baby” and his solo 2008 Christmas song, “This Year.”
Not a traditional Christmas tune in the bunch, but if you're looking for a host of brand-new original holiday songs, this one's for you.

A portion of the proceeds from this album goes to Project Chacocente, a program which exists to help folks move out of the dump in Managua, Nicaragua. Visit for more info.

An Exploration of Faith
Nashville take notice: This is a singular performance by Western New York’s home grown musical genius, Bill Ward, whose pure baritone and guitar driven music is uplifted by a chorus of Doerfuls in voice and musical harmony. This is not your average album of Christmas songs; rather it is an extraordinary exploration of faith through Ward’s lyrics and passion. Ward’s always intriguing baritone is here hauntingly beautiful in places and particularly resonant with depth of feeling. Wincingly honest, daring to accost arguments about wise men and the holy birth, the lyrics illustrate a mind that embraces both reason and faith. The Christmas Sessions offers listeners a profoundly honest Christian journey through song and music. This is an album that is clearly a product of a redemptive spirit, and the music will delight fans of cross genre—blue grass, folk, country, and progressive. There is more than a whisper of Grace here.
