ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
What began as Celtic Thunder's Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly performing a series of shows together called 'Acoustic By Candlelight' back in 2012 has turned into what is now known as Byrne and Kelly. Driven by dynamic vocal harmonies, the duo seamlessly dives into combining genres like traditional Irish and Americana to create a fresh, Celtic folk sound.

Echoes: The Story
This is a wonderful documentary which goes far beyond the usual concert film. Each song in the "Echoes" album is beautifully performed by Neil Byrne & Ryan Kelly, Nicole Hudson & Cian Sweeney. The film doesn't stop there. The viewer is treated to the story behind each song. Byrne & Kelly visit the actual locations in Ireland which inspired their music. Their love of heritage & the joy they have in sharing their music is clear. If you want to spend time with people who value what is good & honest & true in life, please treat yourself to this DVD.

No words
I don't think the word has been invented to describe Echoes: The Story. Brilliant, powerful, inspiring, amazing....none of these seem to do it justice. I knew I would love it. I didn't know there was an emotion more powerful than love! They can break your heart and heal it in an instant.

Echoes: The Story
Byrne and Kelly are the amazing Irish duo of Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly. Their beautiful vocals have been entertaining audiences in Canada, United States, Australia, and further afield for many years. With the success of their latest original CD, "Echoes," and with demands from their fans, the singers/songwriters decided to make a DVD to document the processes and places that inspired their incredible creation. Beautifully filmed with an eye to detail, the video captures the places and experiences of Ireland that inspired these artists. Viewing the DVD will make you laugh and cry with its gut-wrenching honesty of the land they call home. I watched it over and over. Byrne and Kelly are the best artists in the music business!

Pure Magic
What happens when master musicians like Byrne and Kelly meet a superb director like Michael McGlinn? Pure magic. Echoes: The Story is a documentary of the Irish group's first originals album, Echoes. I purchased a copy of the dvd at the premiere of the documentary in Kansas City, and have watched it again and again. Each time, I am blown away by the cinematography and the honesty of the film. Between each live performance of the songs on the album, filmed in a gorgeous location and cheered on by members of the band's family, are the stories and imagery that inspired each number. Two of my favorite moments are during The Old Tweed Coat and Land of a Thousand Dreams. Seeing the actual coat, followed by the framing of Nicole Hudson (co-writer, violin player, and backing vocalist extraordinaire) and Neil as he sang the song about his grandfather was incredibly touching. Then, watching Neil and Ryan as they stood on the Cliffs of Moher (way too close to the edge, lads!) while they contemplated their people's pain of leaving their homeland behind forever --it took my breath away. I don't know if a documentary exists like this elsewhere, one that showcases the beautiful locales and gives rare glimpses into a songwriter's process like Echoes: The Story does. Maybe this deserves a niche all on its own.

Fabulous!
This film brings visual life to the stories and songs of the amazing album Echoes. Watching Ryan, Neil, Nicole, and Cian perform these songs and then able to see the scenery evoked by those songs is simply stunning. The blending of the performance and the location shots was perfect. This film brings life to the stories/songs that we've heard before and makes them even more meaningful. A "must have" purchase for any Byrne and Kelly fan, or anyone who has even a touch of Irish in their soul.

Beautiful, heart-touching documentary...
This film documents the stories behind the songs that were written by an Irish band called Byrne and Kelly. Songs about leaving Ireland during the famine on what were known as coffin ships. Songs about Belfast and how it has become a beautiful, resilient city that shines through - even more brightly despite of, and because of, the scars of its past. On-location shots of Ireland that show her incredible beauty. I''ve never been more proud of my ancestors, my relatives, my heritage, than I am when I watch this documentary.
