ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"...[Cabin Dogs] invokes memories of such legendary bands as The Band, Grateful Dead and Buffalo Springfield. An Honest Tune (The Southern Journal of Jam)

"BAND ON THE VERGE.... Relix Magazine

"Combining a cosmic cowboy vibe with early 70’s rhythms, the [Cabin Dogs] offers a rich blend of city and country." Newport Folk Festival '04

"They're electric and eclectic. They're disco and they're Deadheads. They're earthy and they're cosmic.... Meet the [Cabin Dogs], a rock 'n' roll dichotomy." News of Delaware County.

"Rob and Rich Kwait have a timeless sound that resonates from deep within the soul of the American heartland.... Their music touches a common nerve that places them firmly in the folk tradition, standard-bearers in a direct line of descent from Woody Guthrie to Jerry Garcia. 88.1 FM KDHX St. Louis

******

Philadelphia, PA: Philadelphia-based band-- the CABIN DOGS (formerly the Kwait Brothers Band)-- have teamed up with Woodstock Records (home of the late Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Buckweat Zydeco) to Release ELECTRIC CABIN. With nine tracks of original Cosmic American Blues (plus a cover of Neil Young’s One of These Days), the new album is the latest from the song-writing team of twin brothers Rich and Rob Kwait (who have released two previous albums under the name Kwait Brothers Band (2000’s Hillside and 2002’s Outland Disco). Their earlier work (both as a live band and in the studio) has drawn favorable comparisons to seminal groups such as The Band, Grateful Dead and Buffalo Springfield, and the new album stands to build on this sound and bring the CABIN DOGS national attention.

Recorded and mixed in a yellow farmhouse at the foot of Hurly Mountain (LRS Studios – outside of Woodstock)- this album is the first to be recorded outside of Philadelphia and the first to use an outside co-producer— Aaron “Professor Louie” Hurwitz (who has worked with The Band, Rick Danko, Mercury Rev, Graham Parker, Tony Trischka, Livingston Taylor to name a few). “We decided to do the whole record in upstate NY with Professor Louie,” explains Rich, “partly to work a little outside the norm for a Philly band, and partly to capture some of that funky upstate vibe that we felt in the mountain cabins where we wrote most of the album.”

The result is Electric Cabin -- the premiere release from the Cabin Dogs -- and the further development of a sound described by some as Cosmic American Blues or simply Cabin music.
