Album Notes
Following on from their critically acclaimed debut album CAIN RISING are proud to release this, the1st track from their forthcoming 5 track EP.

Rear View Mirror builds on the band’s British/Americana sound from the album with added dimension of honest to goodness good time brass (no synths were injured or even employed in the making). A touch of Rock’n’Soul, a Rythym’n’Blues feel plus a pinch of Mariachi and you’ve got the sound of summer to bask in for 3 and a bit minutes.

The band was formed in 2014 by Southside Jimmy Price with long time collaborators and friends Jez and Jo Parry. The band, although all musicians from the UK, deliver up a sound that anyone could be forgiven in thinking springs from America's heartlands with its mix of country, folk and rock. And now here they are with maybe a little hint of Latin.

Frontman and songwriter Southside Jimmy cites iconic American artists such as Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan as sonic touchstones when describing his influences and the band's sound. Where the debut album displayed the breadth of these influences, from East Coast rock to the raw folk, Rear View Mirror shows a band whose confidence is growing and who are not afraid to let their music grow with it.

Rear View Mirror sets the scene for the 5 track EP to be released in July which includes all out rocker Glasgow City Spires; Walk My Way - Rock meets Swing - with horns from Rebecca Gibson Swift and Pablo Mendelssohn; Soldier - highlights the band’s love of strong vocal harmony bands such as The Eagles & CSNY; and Social Man - a tense, raw and intimate Country song. These will also be released individually over the next 8 weeks.

Since we last heard from Cain Rising there have been some personnel changes. The core of Jo, Jez and Jimmy remains. Incoming guitarist Ian Hopper - edgy and creative; Matt Crawford on Hammond and Piano gives the band a touch of soul and Mick Ivory’s drumming give it the beating heart.

Southside Jimmy was brought up in the southside of Glasgow and moved to London in the 80s. He has collaborated with Joel Bogen (Toyah) and has worked with his friend Mike Oldfield, singing lead vocals on Mike’s MAGIC TOUCH album and toured Europe promoting the album with Mike and Bonnie Tyler, who was also featured.
