Album Notes
As a rising voice on the music stage, Caitlin Jane has a unique presence—offering not only amazing gifts of poetic songwriting and performance, but delivering with these a passionate message of hope in a broken world. “The emotion in her music and depth of her lyrics make Caitlin Jane one of the most gripping Christian artists today,” commented Ray Ruddy (President, Gerard Health Foundation/Life Prizes). With piano-driven tunes and heart-felt faith interwoven through each one of her songs, Caitlin’s pure and rich vocals have a similar resonance to such timeless singers as Sarah McLachlan and Natalie Merchant. She has released two stirring albums, Ashes into Beauty EP (2007) and Coming Season (2011). Touring nationally and internationally, Caitlin Jane has shared the stage with respected artists including Todd Agnew and BarlowGirl, and has performed at a wide variety of churches, conferences, universities, music festivals (Creation East) and women’s events. Her music isn’t just about performing, though—to Caitlin Jane, music is an avenue for worship and giving glory to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In recent years, Caitlin Jane has walked an unexpected journey and has received a second chance at life. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in June 2014 that was considered inoperable by many of the most renowned neurosurgeons across the country. In February 2015, she underwent life-saving brain surgery in Los Angeles, California at the Skull Base Institute. “It was a series of providential events and my connection with the wonderful filmmaker, Bruce Marchiano (Alison’s Choice), that led me to the only surgeon in the country who could safely remove my tumor and restore me to a healthy life,” she recollects. “Being pro-life truly saved my life!” By God’s healing and grace, her hearing returned after being deaf in one ear post-surgery.

Just two months after surgery, when she was turning a corner in her recovery, Caitlin’s soon-to-be fiancé, and now husband, Jamie, was diagnosed with cancer. All they could do was trust the Lord with complete abandon and faith, once again placing their lives and future in His sovereign hands. Jamie finished his chemo treatment just 5 days before their September 2015 wedding, and the couple remains truly in awe of the many miracles God has granted along their journey. “We’ve learned to live on purpose, to take no day for granted, and to immerse ourselves in daily prayer—lessons I don’t ever want to forget,” Caitlin remarks. The most amazing miracle was yet to unfold, shortly into their marriage. The newlywed couple was told that due to chemo treatments, the chances of having biological children would be nearly impossible, but God decided to bless them with a baby and astound the medical world with this miracle. Her most recent single, “Beautiful Mess,” depicts through song their story of faith and courage…holding onto hope when all seemed hopeless, and seeing beauty in the midst of life’s chaos and mess.

In addition to her songs and her story, Caitlin Jane’s two visually stunning, award-winning music videos have carried her hope-filled message to the world. The internationally-reaching “Unborn” (2009) and its accompanying Unborn: Please Keep Me DVD (2012) share a powerful, yet gentle and grace-filled narrative, celebrating the sanctity of life. “Unborn,” has been instrumental in helping save countless little one’s lives, and the DVD has been very effective in many pregnancy resource centers’ counseling and outreach ministries across the country. Equally inspiring, the whimsical, “Sing Over Us” music video (2014), portrays the heart Caitlin has poured into child advocacy for over a decade now through Compassion International. Using her bold and beautiful voice, she champions the cause of those who are voiceless and helps release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

“Music transcends the barriers we encounter when communicating truth and faith.” Caitlin Jane shares, “If I want to be authentic, then Christ must be at the center of everything I do. I pray I never compromise on this. I want to praise God, who has captured my heart, with every breath I take.” The great Russian novelist, Dostoevsky, penned the simple, yet profound statement, “Beauty will save the world.” This has embodied the very essence of Caitlin Jane’s mission—using the beautiful things in music, media and art to worship Jesus Christ, while conveying eternal truth and honoring the dignity of every human life.
