Album Notes
This album features a series of great religious classics as well as an original new setting of Ave Maria, composed and performed by soprano Candace Taylor and conductor Marc-Andre Bougie.

Soprano Candace Taylor has been hailed for her eclectic style and vocal range throughout various music genres with concentration in both classical and jazz literature. Active as a concert soloist, her performance credits include Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, Handel's Messiah, Poulenc's Gloria, Beethoven's Mass in C and Ninth Symphony, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mozart's Great Mass in C Minor, Coronation Mass, Requiem, and Litaniae Lauretanae, Orff's Carmina Burana, Schubert's Mass in G, Haydn's Creation and Mariazeller Mass, Gilbert & Sullivan's I Have a Song to Sing and recording artist for the CD release Sweethearts. She has been a soloist with the Sherman Symphony, Texarkana Symphony, Shreveport Chorale, Texarkana Regional Chorale, Texarkana Chamber Singers, Shreveport Opera Chorus, Gilbert & Sullivan Society, and Texarkana College Concert Series. Also active as a recitalist, Candace made her international debut in Montreal, Canada in 2007 followed by her European singing debut in 2010 with a series of concerts with Orchestra Cantelli in Italy, and returned to Italy by popular demand in 2014 presenting a concert of American jazz classics with pianist Mary Scott Goode.

Praised for his captivating performances, visionary musical leadership, and engaging personality, American conductor Marc-André Bougie is rapidly establishing himself as a highly sought-after conductor in North America and abroad. Now entering his tenth season as Music Director for the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, he has also conducted the Pleven Philharmonic (Bulgaria), Orchestra Cantelli (Italy), Orchestre des Sources (Canada), Shreveport Symphony, Shreveport Opera, Shreveport Chorale, Texarkana Regional Chorale, Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Northwest Louisiana, St. Pius X Choir & Orchestra, Sacred Heart Choir, the University of Missouri Philharmonic, Contemporary Chamber Players, and University Singers, the Columbia Youth Orchestra, and the Show-Me Opera Studio – a sum of experiences which speaks to the versatility and adaptability of his conducting style. He made his Carnegie Hall conducting debut in 2010. He has collaborated with world-renowned performers including Sharon Isbin, Zuill Bailey, Bradley Welch, Elena Urioste, Jane Redding, and many more. He holds a Master's Degree in Orchestra Conducting from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Also active as a composer, he has won the 2001 MTNA National Composition Competition.
