Album Notes
"Gerard Carelli is the First Combination Trombonist-Singer I've seen...."

Singer and trombonist Gerard Carelli is from New York. Gerard is a smooth and solid performer with plenty of experience. His relaxed style appeals to young and old alike as he croons and swings American Popular standards and his own strong originals.

Originally from New Jersey, Gerard is a graduate of North Texas State where he was a member of the Grammy nominated 1:00 Lab Band. He lived and worked in San Francisco before touring with The Ray Charles Orchestra. Since then, Gerard has been in New York freelancing as a trombonist and fronting quartets to seventeen-piece big bands.

Gerard Carelli has appeared at Lincoln Center for their Midsummer Nights Swing, Michael's Pub, Firebird Café, Rainbow Room, Waldorf-Astoria, Irving Plaza and the 92nd St."Y". He's been a featured artist with the Colorado Springs Contemporary Big Band and has performed for the Hilton Head Jazz Society. Of Gerard's first album Beautiful Dancer, composer Cy Coleman wrote: "Gerard Carelli is a spectacular talent and his new album is the kind that I would rush to the store to buy."

His most recent release, Lucky to Be Me features pianist John Oddo, bassist Jay Leonhart and trumpeter Randy Sandke.

Here are just a few additional quotes:
"Gerard Carelli is the first combination trombonist-singer I've seen since Billy Eckstine and he's a talent on both ends."
-- Jerome Wilson, Cadence Magazine
"Carelli ignites the music and lyric with seductive logic and artistry of jazz... He communicates rewardingly with mood, sound and meaning."
-- Dr. Herb Wong Jazz Historian
"He not only knows how to swing a vocal. . . he adds a sweet-and-low trombone to the mix. Classy and classic."
-- Patricia Myers Jazz Times
"His trombone playing has imagination and musical style, with a good jazz feel." -- Matt Dennis, composer
"Carelli sings with a modified Sinatra-like speech inflected casualness, hitting each note and phrase exactly where he aims. Everything
he reaches for, he grasps with resolute care and affection. I never grow tired of Lucky to Be Me."
-- Alan Bargebuhr, Cadence Magazine
