AYO is a word in Yoruba language that means ALEGRIA, JOY!
This ecstatic, joyful music brings together 2 schools, 2 rivers, 2 directions:
The songs and rhythms originate in Umbanda rituals from Brazil and Jazz brings the colors of contemporary improvisation.
Ayo weaves Afro Brazilian percussion and Jazz schools using a language of horns and voices to interpret and channel the mythological Yoruba doctrine of the Orixas.
