Album Notes
Carl Gurney has worked as a professional musician since the age of eighteen. He did an apprenticeship in a recording studio at age fifteen. Graduated from 'The Musicians Institute London at eighteen having studied Composition, Music Theory & Performance in styles ranging from Blues, Funk and Jazz to Rock and Pop. Carl also holds a Grade 8 Classical Guitar performance with Honours.

Initially playing in function bands and then working on cruise ships. Later on he worked with other
musicians and songwriters as part of a team writing songs for pop artists as part of a production company. Alongside Performing & Composing with, and for, many different people and projects Carl has also had a very successful career as a professional tutor of Guitar, Bass, Piano, Composition, Theory and Music Technology. He also plays Violin, Clarinet, Trumpet, Oud, Ukulele, Kit drums and Snare drum. He has been teaching to an advanced level since 1995.

Carl worked for Herts county council, teaching Guitar and A level music technology, at Cavendish school in Hemel Hempstead and has also taught Guitar at Nicholas Breakspeare school in St. Albans.

Carl was Chief Audio Technician at Sanctuary Recording Studios where he also held the position of Head of Music Performance and Technology, helping to provide music education to children with special learning needs and children who struggle with mainstream education, as well as recording, mixing and mastering professional projects for all manner of commercial audio applications. Many of his students have gone on to study at London universities and some have become teachers and professional musicians/Audio professionals in their own right.

Carl has performed with a Herts based Queen tribute act and he has been known to appear frequently in local theatres as a member of the orchestra. He also arranges the music for several shows including the highly acclaimed annual Harpenden Gang-show. Currently Carl is writing, Arranging and producing music for Film, TV, Radio, Games and internet applications.
