Album Notes
"What makes Carlos stand out among the legions of musicians is that he has already crafted a very distinctive sound, approach and identity." ... "His warmth and generosity is consuming and infectious. You can't help but feel where he is coming from. His music is a very vivid detail of who he is as a person."

Greg Osby

“Carlos has developed his own language with a strong sense of tradition as well. Combine that with his Cuban roots and you have a unique voice that compels me to keep listening to him. Bravo Carlos!"

Jerry Bergonzi

“Carlos Averhoff is before anything a poet, but also a tireless and disciplined worker, anointed with a blinding faith to reach high by assuming risks. His incendiary and passionate blow denotes hours of study and an overwhelming knowledge of the scales, the harmony and its possibilities. His long and energetic phrasing does not conceal the legacy of those Parker, Gordon, Rollins, Coltrane… like those of other visionary futuristic which emerged after Brecker.” ... “His poetry is this: that of giving oneself in body and soul in an intense quest of the bone marrow of each chord, strip it and exhibit it in an irrepressible wealth of ideas. With the ability of a magician, Averhoff picks up with his hands all the apples that fall from the tree, all the notes that drip from his mind, in a speech both logical and of savage beauty.”

iRESI Album Description:
Cuban saxophonist Carlos Averhoff Jr first solo album entitled iRESI, under Inner Circle Music record label, is the epitome of his quest to define his sound and penmanship. With a very distinctive approach, Carlos masterfully weaves into his compositions the most sublime, yet raw Jazz renderings, with the infectious rhythms of his native Cuba. Featuring acclaimed artists Greg Osby on alto, Aruan Ortiz on piano, Francisco Mela on drums, and John Lockwood on bass, the album is an amalgam of polyrhythms and savory melodies; rich both culturally and musically. An honor's graduate of Berklee and New England Conservatory of Music, Carlos's music is emblematic of his life experiences, that of a contemporary Cuban musician influenced by his idolatry for Jazz, yet deeply rooted in the traditions of his homeland.
