Album Notes
Carlton J. Smith has been listening to Tom Waits records for years and it has caused him to come up with an amazing piece of work entitled “The SkinnyBone Tree.”

The reinterpretation aspect of this project came as a result of Carlton’s belief that “no one should sing Tom’s lyrics…but Tom”. So Carlton wrote what the songs made him feel and then had his band kick the grooves around, until they jelled into the songs he created for his new CD, “The SkinnyBone Tree.”

At present, Carlton is performing these songs at the House of Blues & Jazz and at the Marriott Hotel Hongqiao in Shanghai, China. He’s performed in Hong Kong, England and Switzerland as well. For the past five years, he performed in New York at B.B. King’s club and at The Blue Note, also at various other venues in NYC. He performs and hosts a series of shows in honor of the legends of R&B, Funk and Soul and also showcases his own material. His widely acclaimed R&B/Soul Shows are real crowd-pleasers. Over the years he has created quite a good fan-base worldwide. Alan Freed named him “Soul Brother Number New” but now he’s fast becoming known as the “International Soul Brother Number New.”

We’re looking for someone to take this new CD to the next level in terms of exposure, promotion and a record/distribution deal. The CD will be available on and on our myspace sites
