ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Three Bach composers, three completely unique styles! Played on an unfretted clavichord, ideal for the new 18th-century aesthetic of singing (cantabile). This CD features works by the most famous Bach, Johann Sebastian -- the early Capriccio on the Departure of His Beloved Brother, and the monumental Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue -- his second son Carl Philipp Emanuel -- the "Wurttemberg" Sonata No. 4 and his most important work in the style of "Sensitivity," the Free Fantasy in F# Minor -- and youngest son Johann Christian (the "London" Bach) -- two 1779 sonatas from Op. 17, exemplifying the popular Italian "galant" style. Carol Lei Breckenridge is an artist specializing in 18th-century music played on period keyboards, and is known for the expressiveness of her playing.
