Album Notes
"Spill My Soul" is a beautiful art project of 10 songs, although varying in genre, cohesive in their uplifting, warm and honest groove.

Let this CD enliven each Chakra one at a time and weave them together to leave you basking in the warm afterglow of your own higher self. (hey....some of it's even dancable)

Producers and musicians came from all different walks for this project, but each had a genuine respect and love for Carol Lester's songs and a desire to bring them to their artistic maximization. Dave Richards (touring bassist for Indigo Girls and many others), played on and produced tracks "Unrequited Love" and "If I Let" with a totally live, improv sounding flavor. "Big Boys" is rock n' Roll and "To Be High" is a slow building alternative rock piece that leaves you lying on the floor gazing up at the stars. Producer Mark Linebury created such a unique bossa/rock groove for "Spill My Soul" that two Latino fans (who happen to be poets and philosophers) spent a couple of days and bottles of wine co writing the Spanish version "Quiero Deramar Mi Alma" And Donny Black, Producer, (but in a past life keys, sax and horns for Curtiss Mayfield) produced movie soundtrack quality cuts for 1,2,8,9 (pop, easy listening, rock, celtic respectively)

Carol hunted through New York City Clubs for lead guitar gems. She brought a variety of players on a song by song basis for the song which most craved their unique style. Tracks 1 & 10 feature Mark Linebury in all his Clapton-esque note-bending wonder. "Clear Through The Day" (a favorite among the borderline mentally ill--and you know who you are)features Paul DeCoster and his Segovia-like flying fingers. And "Honeysuckle Slumber" guitar sounds like raindrops on crystal from Diana White...if you can handle having your heartstrings pulled by this poignant love song.

All in all, the songs are perfectly crafted, Carol's voice is honest and effecting, the musicianship is world class and the production is a feast for the ears. A song can be produced and performed in an infinite number of ways. For Carol, it's all about honesty. When you come to see Carol live, be ready for a fresh interpretation each time. In the meantime, enjoy this CD and email Carol with your comments!
