What is the Observer and Where is it?
The Observer is a neutral detached “perspective” within that allows us to be at once connected to and aware of what is happening, at the same time be detached or more than what we are observing: more than the thought, the emotion and the experience.

When we choose to be of service we go to our Observer automatically, knowing we can be of greater assistance when we are not “in our own stuff”. The Observer is an energetic aspect of ourselves and therefore part of who we are. We can learn to identify with this aspect in order to get out of our own way and, in order to heal. The father of Psycho-synthesis, Roberto Assagioli located this point in our energy body, deep within our chest, near the Heart Center. Energetically, the Heart Center expresses the desires of our Soul or Higher Self. The Observer and the Heart Centre are also the home in us for compassion, unconditional love, and understanding. The Observer is a perspective conditioned by the energy of the Heart Center, and is neutral, non-judging and passive rather than active. It allows us to be detached rather than attached. When we move to this perspective we become more aware and accepting of feelings, thoughts, and physical realities, and at the same time, realize we are more than our thoughts, feelings, and bodies. The Observer place is like the eye of the hurricane – a still center surrounded by the chaos of life.

The Breath Takes you to the Observer – the Door:
Becoming more conscious of your breath and learning to “allow” it to deepen naturally is “a surrender” to your life and your being. It is a powerful and loving act of acceptance that speaks to every cell in your body. It is the key to the door of your own evolution. Know where the door is; have the key to open it; and then with practice, you will walk through whenever you want to.

The Importance of the Observer:
Unresolved thoughts and feelings become obstacles on our path. The process of observing, accepting and allowing is so loving and compassionate that whatever thoughts and feelings come under this energy can dissolve, transmute, and move on, leaving more room inside a person for life and being present. This Observer is within us and when we are there and identified with that part of ourselves we are more than what we are observing. Living that reality will allow the changes to occur in your life that are waiting to happen.

One can breathe one’s awareness to this point or place. You will recognize this place as one you already know and have possibly spent much time in. It is a place of refuge, reflection, rest and stillness. It is the door to which Breath is the key. Remember: Breath = life in a literal as well as metaphorical sense. Breath says yes or no to this moment in time.

To reach the observer one has to be in present time. We travel to the Observer within us on our breath. Once there, if we allow our awareness and our breath to just be present, without an agenda, time expands so that we can easily traverse decades of time or miles of space, in that quiet still place within us that is beyond space and time. Being in the Observer perspective is an opportunity to know what needs to be known, see what needs to be seen, feel what needs to be felt and understand what is ready to be understood.

Downloads from the higher self/soul become common place, as one learns to rest in the observer and allow the personal clearing to occur naturally as awareness opens with the energies of love, compassion, and understanding. This allows for the transmutation of emotional and mental blocks we carry around with us, that are waiting for resolution and release.

In the Observer, not only is consciousness resting in a different place in our being, we are no longer identifying with every thought and every feeling we have. We have created some distance and detachment from those patterns of energy. Learning to be the observer in our lives is the same as learning to live with unconditional love and compassion which is the most powerful way to transform repeating energetic patterns that keep us from being present. This is why we change and grow as people when we learn to observe, allow and accept what is.

To allow a pattern of feeling or thought to become clear the process needs to happen on all levels of our being – physical, emotional, and mental. If we don’t let it happen at all levels it doesn’t really happen at all. It becomes a nice thought, a nice mental exercise, but not a dynamic action that truly changes us. For that to happen we must use our breath in the process.
The breath connects the mind and the body permitting the action of the Nervous System, the Endocrine System, and the Blood System to take the message to every cell in our body.

Technically speaking, deep relaxed breathing will fully reset your entire autonomic nervous system by activating the Vagus nerve, the 10th Cranial Nerve which in turn powers the Para-Sympathetic Nervous System. In layman’s terms, this means that a little green light comes on and says, go forth and live fully, giving every cell in your body the message - LIVE! I want to live! This message is loud and clear because the nervous system is one of the major communication systems in our dense physical body, along with the endocrine and the blood systems. These three systems communicate to every part of our body, and interact with our emotions and our thoughts. The simple truth is that shallow breathing is saying “no” or “maybe” rather than “yes” to life and living.

“Your breath represents your life. Its action of out, pause, in, pause is taken care of automatically. Your cells tell your brain, which tells your lungs how much oxygen to take in. We would always be breathing the correct amount of oxygen our cells require if our psychology didn’t interfere, but it does. By unconsciously restricting our exhale, much less air is permitted to come in as there just isn’t the room. This is what happens when we are consciously or unconsciously in fear. Let go of your exhale and start thinking of your life and your breath as ONE. This is how we can change our patterns of fear and anxiety.”

Energy follows thought and thought precedes matter. If you are to create the space in your life for you to become the person you can be, then regularly setting the stage for that to happen is the key. Your lower concrete mind will give you a 1000 reasons you don’t have time for this INNER WORK, because it doesn’t show instant results. Rather, this is the work of a lifetime. Regular meditation sets the stage for psychological house cleaning. This is what change really is in our lives.
Remember we choose:
• What we create in our life.
• The emotional and mental tone of our life.
• The gift of our self – what you share with others.
You can choose to vibrate with anger and a fear base, joining in and adding to that frequency, or you can choose to clean up your house and begin to offer some higher frequency vibrations that are love based, joining in and adding to those vibrations in the world. We must learn to accept however long this process takes and not judge ourselves too harshly.
