Album Notes
Carolyn Fe’s Sugat Ko - My Wound, translated from Tagalog (Philippines)
Release Date: August 1, 2018 (her birthday!) , Label: Productions Carolyn Fe Inc.

After a four year delay in the release of her 4th album, Carolyn Fe is back! Truer and Stronger than ever with “SUGAT KO” (pronounced “sue-gat go”) – A 10-song album revealing Carolyn Fe’s truest self. If you’re ready to venture into new Blues territory, to open your ears and stretch your awareness with masterful twists on traditional rhythms and lyrics both kick-ass and poignant, this is the band you want. There’s one thing you can count on from Carolyn Fe: Originality.

Carolyn Fe proclaims, “It took me over half a century to accept that I was born from a heritage of women warriors, trail blazers, suffragettes, civic leaders and rain-makers way before women's liberation, feminism, and women’s rights were instinctively felt, and way before they became a concept. I’ve gone through many new beginnings, accumulating scar upon scar. But now my wounds, iyong mga sugat ko, have healed.”

Modern and relative to the current world climate, but at once classic with traditional this is definitely not your Grandma’s blues. Carolyn Fe’s chameleon ability to convey every emotion from pain and anger, to desire and triumph are all on display here. Coupled with the incredible flexibility of her musicians, she has broken through the boundaries of the blues and is attracting the attention of music devotees from all genres who want to hear something different.

Curious, adaptable, an outlier, and a free-spirited visionary who questions accepted standards and pushes against established rules to bravely navigate the daunting corridors of her soul, Carolyn Fe reinvents herself and redefines her craft. Carolyn Fe is an innovator who has always expressed herself through the performing arts where she fully embodies all of her talents as an insightful lyricist, evocative interpreter and singularly an authentic performer.
