ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The First Lady of Solar Records; Carrie Lucas makes a return in 2018 with a brand new single entitled ‘Some Things Never Change’. The song is written by Carrie Lucas and Nigel Lowis and also produced by Nigel Lowis. This dance floor filler pays homage to the legendary sound created by Dick Griffey, Leon Sylvers and the Throwdown Brothers but with a contemporary twist.

In recent times there has been a trend in the music industry to replicate a sound created by one of the most famous black music labels of all time. That sound is the Sound of Los Angeles Records ‘SOLAR’. You can hear that signature SOLAR sound in the bass lines, riffs and synthesized funk in the music of Bruno Mars, Pharrell and Mark Ronson. The cracking snare and bass line of ‘Some Things Never Change’ grab you along with the funky riffs. Carrie is in fine form vocally with a richer sound. She is most definitely in her vocal prime.

Carrie Lucas was signed to Soul Train records and later Solar Records. She scored hits with ‘Show Me Where You’re Coming From’, ‘Gotta Keep Dancing’ and ‘Dance With You’ the latter of which was sampled by Arman Van Helden for the club anthem ‘You Don’t Know Me’.
