ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Butch Castetter

He’s been called a prolific songwriter with a creative mind and a modern day truth teller but whatever you call him, one thing for sure is that Butch Castetter is never boring. His songs pack a one-two punch. Hooking you with melody lines that grab your ear and then painting high definition pictures with lyrics. With his rare combination of wit and insight, the lyrics are always engaging and range in topic from the light and humorous to poignant. In a day of mass produced and formulated music, raw honesty with visceral shorthand, painted against a backdrop of Midwestern optimism is a nice change.

Growing up in Indianapolis during the glory days of rock Butch once described Indianapolis as a city halfway between the big city blues of Chicago and the country sounds of Kentucky. You can hear the influences in his music. He started playing guitar at age ten on the same 1972 Martin D28 that he still owns today.

Although he only started writing songs in 2000, how many artists get their first CD mentioned by Rolling Stone Magazine? His first CD (Swim Real Fast) released in 2005 received positive reviews including the song It’s a Dog’s Life being named track of the day on Garage Band and culminating with the title track being picked as one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s Playlist of the Day on March 28, 2007.

His latest release 419 North is a honest look at life from every angle. Butch Castetter rings true as we are compelled to look at ourselves and see each other with each note and every word.
