Album Notes
And I Heard the Sound of Laughter (2016) is the 5th Album release in the past 10 years from Cathy AJ Hardy. (
These albums are each a reflection of her soul journey and this newest album is all of that and more.

In her own words...
This present collection of songs is really one song - the culmination of a journey of my soul over the past 18 years. There was a pivotal moment where I was invited into the depths of the woods, the forest of my heart…facing the shadows and the darkness that lay within…facing my anxieties and depression. I was so terrified to let go of what I was hanging on to so tightly. And in my greatest moment of anguish and fear I had an experience that altered my course direction. I was on a spiritual retreat at a Trappist Monastery in Conyers, Georgia and had gone for a walk on the beautiful grounds. Grief and despair had washed over me and I lay on the ground pounding my fists into the earth. Why? Why had things turned out as they had? In my pain, there was a flash of memory and awareness. I remembered me as a young girl spending my Saturday mornings dusting the pews and window ledges of the church where my father was a minister. As a child, I didn’t care too much about completing my dusting task, but would rather fling my cloth into the air and watch the dust particles turn into floating diamonds. In these moments I would sing and dance and sometimes feel a strange and wonderful connection with ‘the More’…How can we define the Mystery of Love?
As I lay on the ground, many years later, I remembered these Saturday mornings where I had tasted wonder and beauty. And I called out, ‘How do you see my situation?’ There was stillness. What a question I had asked. What if I heard nothing? Was my faith a pipe dream of childhood? What really was beyond me?
And then to my great surprise, I became aware of the sound of laughter. Joyful. Peaceful. Radiant. Full. Embracing. Bubbling. Vibrant. Wild and Free.
I was so surprised and I responded, ‘If You are laughing, then I do not really know you. Teach me.’
This is a moment I have not spoken of for years and years (how does one explain these kind of experiences?) It became a moment of a great decision that changed my paradigms and the course of my life. I followed the laughter. The beautiful sound of laughter. I became like a blindfolded puppy, searching for the scent of joy and laughter of the soul. Over many years, many stories, many journeys, I have discovered that this laughter is at the heart of the Presence of Love. Laughter is at the heart of the One who loves you and me and who is inviting us to the table.
Home is where laughter dwells.
Welcome home to the Grand Embrace of Love.
