Cathy says, "We can do nothing without God. Everything we have; our life, jobs, material things; all come from God. To know God, is a matter of faith. I see God's hands in everything and try to witness my faith to others. I try to live a simple life and put others first. For me, singing and playing music is not about what I can get from it, but about what I can give to others. Music can help to heal.
In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina here in New Orleans, some people lost hope and sadly took their own lives. Our home was flooded and it was a time of loss and grief, but it taught us a great lesson about materialism. I wrote Trust God in 2007, "When life brings rain, walk through the pain. Choose joy and have hope. Trust in God. Keep life simple. Desire less not more. God can take away the things we store. You see this life is not our real home. It's Heaven that matters. Not what we own."
Several years after Hurricane Katrina I was inspired with more songs. Good can come from suffering. In Spring 2009, after attending a Spiritual Retreat, I began writing. While outside one day, contemplating the world's problems, I wrote Without Jesus. One evening, the music to the poem My Life Depends on You suddenly came to me as I read the words out loud.
I wrote Sangre de Cristo, after a road trip May 2010, to visit friends in Colorado, who took us to San Luis, in the majestic Sangre de Cristo mountains, to climb the hill of the Stations of the Cross. Some of my lyrics were inspired by our friend Reverend Harold Cohen, who taught, that when going through something difficult, to plead the most Precious Blood of Jesus upon the situation. I wrote the song with Classical guitar style that I studied in the 1970's.
Within a year, I wrote many songs. A few years ago my husband Al wrote lyrics to I Hope and I wrote the music. In 2010, Al thought of the title, A Matter of Faith, but we didn't know that I'd be recording this in Nashville.
God orchestrates events in our lives. On June 25, 2009 while writing songs, I came across lyrics to Love Song A Tribute to John Denver, I wrote in 2000, after having a very profound dream about him. As I sat with my guitar, the music came in about 10 minutes. Through a sequence of events, as we stepped out in faith, God began leading me out to do more. My Tribute song led me to be invited to sing at John Denver's Tribute in Aspen, Colorado in 2010 and every year since.
In Aspen, we met Pianist/Producer Chris Nole, who worked with John Denver and many others. A sincere thanks to Chris, who produced my CD Love Song, for the opportunity to record with him and John Denver's former Band in Nashville and to collaborate with Chris on A Matter of Faith this year. Chris did a fabulous job producing both albums with fantastic musicians!
My husband Al asked me to record Schubert's Ave Maria, which I sang the day we met and at our Wedding.
We added wonderful hymns, The Old Rugged Cross/Softly and Tenderly, I arranged to sing for Funerals, Amazing Grace, and popular song I Believe.
I recorded The Wings That Fly Us Home in Tribute to John Denver, who wrote the music, and lyrics by his friend Joe Henry, who we met in Aspen in 2012.
I first heard and learned Glen Campbell's Less of Me around 1969 and recorded it in Tribute to Glen, who we met backstage Sept. 2011 on his Good-bye Tour. Carl Perkins' Daddy Sang Bass, makes me think of childhood and my family singing together. I hope this album will have you singing along, bring you joy and inspire you on your journey of faith, as it has inspired me. God bless you!" Cathy JMJ

L'AVE MARIA ,m'a donné les larmes aux yeux -pour le mariage de mes parents une amie parait-il leur a chanté cet AVE MARIA.

A Matter Of Faith
I have the pleasure of being the first to comment on this wonderful new album of gospel music A Matter Of Faith from Cathy Gianfala Carriere, who has previously impressed me with her collection of John Denver songs. Cathy is certainly a versatile artist and she shows it here across a wide range of songs of faith, including some that are new to me.
I am delighted that Cathy includes in this new collection one of John Denver's classic songs The Wings That Fly Us Home - co-written by Denver and his friend Joe Henry. Cathy's version of The Wings That Flys Us Home is more than adequate. It is really impressive!
This is an artist who knows how to deliver a song. Why take my word for it when Cathy's excellent work is validated by the presence on this new album of none other than Chris Nole and Pete Hutlinger, two musicians who were both toured and recorded with John Denver - and of course Chris Nole produced this album! That's high praise in itself!
Another excellent album from Cathy Gianfala Carriere.

A Matter Of Faith
Cathy's second album A Matter Of Faith is inspiring and is as much a wonderful album as her first one is. I was pleased to see that Cathy sings John Denver's song The Wings That Fly Us Home on her new CD. Cathy also includes the songs I Believe, Amazing Grace and Ave Maria on this album. Another wonderful album from Cathy. I am pleased to have it in my collection.
