ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Bay Sound" is an album comprised of 12 original piano compositions inspired by Northfork, Long Island. The name of the album took from the Peconic "Bay" and Long Island "Sound", as well as "The Sound of the Bay". Cathy is in awe of the serenity and natural beauty of Northfork. "Break of Dawn" came to mind while sitting in a sun-room of a local Bed and Breakfast looking out into a herb Garden and the Vineyard. "Lavender Field" celebrates the calming beauty of a local lavender farm during its harvest time. "Goats" describes the mischief of young goats prancing around, coveting visitors at a local goats farm."Orient Solace" finds absolute solitude and peace at the Orient Point, tip of Northfork. "Pebble Beach" is a variation of "Pebble Beach" from her first album "Watercolors". The light staccato describes the sun-rain at the beach during a hot summer day, as opposed to its original version in an overcast. "Dancing Swan" was written in remembrance of Cathy's late grandparents. Cathy's grandfather had given her a music box of crystal dancing swans when she visited them 15 years ago. "Maze" was written when Cathy and her young son went into a vast corn maze in the early Autumn heat. They had yet to find their way out after half an hour. The song narrates the agitation, confusion and exhaustion of a mother and her young boy.
