ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer Craig Caffall has been involved with music literally since the age of 9 when he began as a drummer in Mexico for a school band. Now over 45 years later he continues to dazzle audiences with his showmanship and vocal talent unsurpassed by many. Born in the Bay Area and growing up between the United States and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, this bi-cultured musician wows them in both English and Spanish.
Caffall’s recording career has paired him up with some notable artists. In 2000, while living in New Orleans, he released his own album on the CWR label called ‘Big Train’ and recorded guitar on funk albums with Kim Philips (keyboardist for Irma Thomas) further exposing him to the New Orleans sound.
Caffall’s list of performers that he has played with is also quite impressive. Artists including Bo Diddley, John Mayall, Martha Davis and the Motels, David Clayton Thomas, Irma Thomas, Charles & Cyril Neville (Neville Bros.), Lee Oskar, Dan Hicks, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Wier and Steve Earle, just to name a few.
Caffall has been residing for the last 18 years in the San Francisco Bay Area and for the past 14 years has been the lead guitarist with legendary singer Maria Muldaur (Midnight At The Oasis, circ 1974) touring throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, England, Ireland, Europe and Japan.
Seven years ago Caffall signed with Marin’s own GRA label (gragroup.com) and released his second CD entitled “Hold Me Up” which was taken from the Big Train sessions.
2012 found Caffall releasing 2 albums during the year. In January, ‘12 Caffall released his sophomore CD, CCB “That’s When You Got It Made”, and produced an album for folk singer Buffy Ford Stewart (wife of songwriter John Stewart from the Kingston Trio), and produced an album for Joe Tate and the Blue Monday Band.
2013 Caffall and his band CCB released a CD of cover songs called ‘Got It Covered’. “Songs that you know and love to dance to” quips Caffall proudly.
Just this past year Caffall has released his latest CD, “Turns To The Blues” which as the title suggests, and as Caffall puts it, “is based in the blues”.
He is also helping the community by producing a collection of well known artists and their songs for a CD called “Artists for the Victims of the California Wildfires” due out late summer of 2019. Says Caffall proudly “the proceeds of this project will go to Habitat for Humanity, who help to rebuild communities through out the state”.
His Craig Caffall Band (CCB) has been playing venues throughout California and around the USA and Mexico, as well as continuing to work with Maria Muldaur and playing with other great lady vocalists like Shana Morrison and Lisa Kindred.
