ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This cd was pure joy for me to write and perform. I grew up listening to all the jazz/fusion greats and wanted to honor them with this cd. I originally wanted to be a drummer and remember my first music teacher telling me that if i learned how to play piano first, that I would appreciate music more than I would only from a "drummer's perspective". I'm glad I listened. Learning the piano and having a love for just about every genre of music really prepared me for my musical journey. I play drums, bass and keyboards on this release and am also joined by guitarist John Stafford and saxophonist Tyrone Williams. My hope is that most of the songs will bring homage to my jazz/fusion heroes. You will hear influences from Weather Report, Yellowjackets, Pat Metheny/Lyle Mays and more.

Simply Beautiful
Being new to this genre, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this new artist. There's a lot to like on this because of the variety of feels. Atmospheric at times, driving at others, some playfulness here too. I would highly recommend this. Give us more C...give us more!!!

This is one of *those* albums....buy it!
Wow. Given the pedigree, I expected this album to be fantastic. And I was still blown away. Compositions...performance...production. A+ on all three. Energy, mood, and vibe? Well...what's higher than A+? What an absolutely wonderful album, top to bottom. You can enjoy this at any level - just nodding to the grooves, enjoying the nuance, or digging in deep to the wizardry. My hat goes off to Mr. Cherry for creating music that generates such smiles. This one will be savored for years to come.
