Album Notes
Charmaine Clamor is the first Filipina jazz singer to find success on mainstream American radio. Her album, "Searching for the Soul," has been heard on more than 100 stations around America, and peaked at #1 on the CMJ jazz charts in several markets. Critics and disc jockeys have compared Charmaine's sultry alto voice to legendary vocalists like Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan, and Cassandra Wilson, all the while recognizing her individual style and sound.

A longtime member of the renowned vocal harmony ensemble CRESCENDO, Charmaine is also the first Pinay to headline the world-famous Catalina Bar & Grill jazz club, in Hollywood, which presented Charmaine at their sold-out 2005 Filipino-American Jazz festival. In 2006, she headlined the Manila International Jazz Festival in her birth country, the Philippines.

Originally from the provincial town of Subic-Zambales, Charmaine Clamor began her singing career at age 3, entertaining passengers (whether they liked it or not!) in the back of buses traveling to Manila. As she grew, she began providing piano accompaniment while her mother sang kundiman (Filipino torch songs) and English language classics. From these early memories comes her love of the Great American Songbook.

One of the founding members of JazzPhil-USA, a non-profit organization which promotes Filipino-American jazz artists in the United States, Charmaine is an American citizen and proud Pinay who is honored to perform at concerts that celebrate the Filipino culture.

Mesmerizing indeed!
Charmaine exquisitely sings a spectacular collection of jazz music in her deep sultry voice and her rendition brings a new twist that soothes one’s senses and warms the soul. For a debut recording, this is one fine piece of work and definitely a great contribution to the jazz music industry. Kudos to you!

What I really like about Charmaine is that she can be whisper-soft, grippingly forceful, earthy, romantic, and soulful.

Charmaine's vocalism is amazing. This album should be nominated for a grammy.... and win!

One of the Very Best
"Searching for the Soul" is one of the very best "jazz for slow-dancin'and romancin' for the wee hours" CDs ever recorded. "Soulful" is how many callers described her when I debuted her on my radio show. Her selection and interpretation of tunes is impeccable. Charmaine sings with enormous warmth, intimacy and sensuality.

Soulful and Smooth
Charmaine's music is soulful and smooth, and her voice is amazing. It's a great album that all types will enjoy.

Potential World Shaker
"Blessed with a 'bedroom eyes' voice, Charmaine Clamor has put out a lovely and eclectic collection. Clamor proves she is able to handle the standards with aplomb. The jewels of 'Searching for the Soul,' however, are the originals. Charmaine Clamor could shake the world with originals like these. In a musical world filled with canaries, we beg Clamor for more new material."

searching for the soul
It has been a long time since i pulled out a Sheila Jordan or Mark Murphy album, but when I played this album my love to jazz vocals came back again. (I'm a jazz instrumental listener). Love that voice. Although I'm not familiar with the band, they compliment the singer very well. The CD is also well recorded. It brings out the singer in front of me in my stereo system. My advice - develop a signature in your singing (a Charnaine Clamor sound). Wish you all the good things in your future project!

Charmaine is saucy and delicious with a CD packed for the heart and soul.
Charmaine is an original. It takes courage and integrity to be one in her chosen niche: Jazz. There are too many greats, too many imitators and pretenders in that niche. But there is something about Charmaine that is at once mysterious and mystifying -like witchcraft, she casts a spell over you. She has a great vocal tone and what she does with it is masterful. Her style is free-flowing and sometimes playful when she brings in shades of Ella and Sarah.
What I find most pleasurable about her is she doesn't sing to herself or to a crowd. She sings to me -intimately. She takes me with her bedroom voice.

Feel the Love!
Charmaine literally 'breathes love' into age-old standards, You feel the lyrics. She makes you want to be in love if you are not already!
