Album Notes
I have made this album to share these exciting and engaging Folk songs for children and families...
Singing is uplifting and is an excellent way to encourage speech, confidence and self expression.
'A Land Very Close' has songs to dance and stamp about to, a birthday month song, season and weather songs, songs to delight the imagination and four ending songs to wind down with..AND there is a song booklet with each one giving you all the words to each song and also states where the song orgionates (eg.Japan, Swiss-Italian, Bulgarian..etc)
All songs are accoustically played, with intricate guitar detail, gentle percussion effects and simple vocals.
Below l will add the albums review and some feed back from parents and children*....

Folk CD Review Round Up by Adam Horovitz . CD Review A Land Very Close Ceilidh-Jo Rowe

WHAT a lovely surprise this album is; comprising folk songs, lullabies and nursery rhymes from Trinidad to Bulgaria, Lands End to Japan, it is aimed squarely at children but there is more than enough packed into its brief running time to appeal to broad-minded adults as well.
Too many albums for children are riddled with dreadful hands-on-your- hips stage school camp.
Not this one; Ceilidh-Jo’s voice is as delicately earthy and honest as it is on any of her own songs and Matthias Weston’s lyrical acoustic guitar playing and sparse percussion complements it beautifully.
If you want to broaden your children’s musical horizons early, this is the album to buy; there’s more than enough for them to engage with and sing along to without ever feeling patronised.
Highlights are Swinging Along (I’d have loved this song with a passion as a child), Land of the Silver Birch and Japanese Rain Song. And the eco-friendly packaging is a delight too.
The album closes with three lullabies, which are astonishing. It’s a slight shame that they are separate songs – they would have made a glorious closing medley, merged into each other in the manner of the second side of the Beatles’ Abbey Road. That one very minor grumble aside, this is a fantastic CD.

"We loved the CD it’s the quietest I have had the boys in the car in a long time. We had to play it on the way to school today as well!! " A mother of 2 boys.

"I must let you know that your beautiful voice sings us all to school every morning, and home again in the afternoon. In fact we've played it everyday for days and days. I put it on when the kids are sad, and when they are happy! Aster sings along now! The songs are well-chosen and teach children about music in a beautiful, fun way! " A mother of 2 girls and 2 boys.

Highly Recommended
I have 2 kids and they have been playing this on repeat for the last week! I have to agree with the last reviewer that I enjoy it too; The music has a well crafted sound and the voice is compelling for both my children and me. Keiran will not stop singing track.5 (castles and kings) so I know this was a good purchase and will be played often. I will be watching out for the follow up album. 10 out of 10
Should you buy it? - If you haven't already, get yourself a copy! Very enjoyable.

Absolutely Fantastic
Having been a Mum for 23 years now I can claim a lofty perch over the quality of childrens music available on cd. I have found no other that even comes close to this wonderful collection by Ceilidh and Matt. Ceilidh has a voice that speaks to children, and a heart that does too! This music has it's roots in history but speaks to our 21st Century kids. I have been lucky enough to have had this album playing constantly in my car on school runs and long journeys. It charms my 5 and 2 yr old into blissful contentment as they are transported to a magical land with dragons and castles and kings. Great for teething and tantrums, and also when Mum and Dad bicker; and are drowned out! Every home should have a copy as the artwork is beautiful to have and to hold, not just as an mp3. I would recommend this album for all families not only but also as an antithesis to our charts filled with cheap plastic pop. It inspires our children to play real music :)
