Take Me as I Am

by Celia

Young Man has a jazz feel and tells a story that starts off in reality and ends up as a dream. Take Me As I Am is a contemporary, upbeat song about what I observed in Palm Beach Florida, but it applies to women everywhere. Both are meant to inspire!

Album Notes
Ahhh. Young Man...now there's a story in a song. And he was young. But such an old soul. And there I was, feeling like pulp, having just been dumped by a guy that I did my best to love. Disposed of through a text message! Yup. Sound familiar ladies?? And smack in the middle of my vino pity party, young man walks up, starts a conversation with me, and as the song says, made me feel desired again. That's all it took. The lyrics poured out and not long after, the jazzy, sultry melody was born. Thank you young man, for igniting the spark that got the creativity flowing, and for the wake-up call. I was never undesirable - I was just with someone who couldn't appreciate all that I am! N-E-X-T...

Then came Palm Beach Florida. Another world for sure. I was so struck by the extremes taken by women to preserve looks and "snag a wallet." Once again the lyrics started to flow and Take Me As I Am was on paper. And a catchy percussion beat kept repeating in my head, which became the foundation that the rest of the melody was built on. As the song says...what the hell ARE we doing girls??? Bottom line is we need to accept ourselves first as we are. When you get it right on the inside, the one who is right for you will show up on the outside.

If you are blessed with long-term friends, you have priceless gifts in your life. Tom Hynes, Hynesight Productions, is one of those life-long friends. He is truly a Musical Genius. I worked in studio with him doing backup vocals for many of his CD projects, always dreaming that someday, I would love to have a CD project of my own. Without his countless hours of input, ideas, studio time and musical talents, these two songs would not be a reality. Love you Tom!!!! So grateful.....

Lastly, to everyone reading this, here is what I put on the inside cover of my two-song CD:

It’s never too late, you are never too old, and at the beginning of each day, if you choose to matter, you will.
To my fab girlfriends near and far- we are on this journey together. When we are sitting in those rockers on the porch someday, we are all going to shout that we are “glad we did,” instead of “we wish we had.”
Life is an inside job. When you get it right in there, it all works out here.
If you have breath in your body, you have the opportunity to write a new chapter on the slate of your life. Write it well.
I have many more songs to bring to life, but only so many hours in the day. So rather than wait until….I chose to get these two out there in the universe, because all I have is now. Enjoy!

Really LIVE every moment. That my friends, IS the key to life! Celia "Cee" Gomes
