ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
When Celia Ramsay approached Shay Black to suggest they make a duo album together, he thought for about two seconds before saying 'yes'. Two years later, the result is a fine collection of favorite songs from Shay's native Ireland and Celia's ancestral Scotland. The album includes instrumental support from John Doyle, Liz Carroll, Michael Black, Patrice Haan, Charlie Hancock, Eamonn Flynn, David Morris, David Brewer and Rebecca Lomnicky and vocal harmonies on some songs from Shay's family: niece Róisín, sisters Mary and Frances, and brothers Michael and Martin.

Shay Black is the eldest brother of Ireland's well-loved Black Family. Originally from Dublin, Shay is revered in the San Francisco Bay Area as a song-catcher and teaches classes in song repertory when he and brother, Michael, aren't following a busy performance schedule as The Black Brothers.

Celia Ramsay is known for her singing and produced two albums prior to this one: Songs of My Father's People, Mostly Scottish Songs About Love, and I'll Just Lie About It, a selection of 1940s style Jazz standards that include her own original songs. She performs with Luxury Edition when she's singing Jazz, and recently began performing with Shira Kammen and Patrice Haan in a Celt-eclectic trio called Glamourie.
