Album Notes
Ceol Mhor is based in Cincinnati and plays mainly traditional Celtic music. We play instrumental music from the Celtic nations of Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Brittany and Galicia adm include songs in the English and Welsh languages.

Band Members:

David (Dafydd) Jones is a Welshman by birth. He plays the English concertina, button accordion, mandolin and bodhran. Dafydd also lends his voice to the vocals department and his speciality is singing in the Welsh language.

On the hammered dulcimer, we have Patti Walker. She has the dexterity to play in a number of different styles. Sometimes it is a strong driving rhythm, and at others it can be slow and mystical. Patti has a penchant for Breton tunes and these she performs exquisitely. She also composes her own tunes and in these, the Breton influence rings through.

Bill Williams is our virtuoso multi-faceted fiddle player. Of Welsh ancestry, Bill always provides unpredictability to our performances. We never know which instrument he'll play next - be it the fiddle, banjo, bouzouki, bodhran or spoons ! "Long live spontaneity !" seems to be his motto. Bill also uses his beautiful tenor voice to add the vocals department.

Dave Copley is our woodwind department. Dave is a native of England. He plays several different kinds of flute and tin whistle and is a well regarded maker of wooden flutes. His piping melodies can be distinctly heard during the various jigs, reels, polkas, mazurkas, airs and ballads we play.

Chris Johns is our other Welshman and the rhythm section of the band. Whether he uses traditional tuning on his Martin guitar or the more Celtic-oriented DADGAD he produces a strong beat and chord progressions which give a magical touch to the background of the music.
