Album Notes
We are proud to present to you CG & The Hammer's new album "Something good – the Memphis sessions".

American-born Blues artists Dov Hammer and Sagi "CG" Shorer first met in Tel Aviv in 1999. By then each had paid plenty of "Blues dues" ,leading their own bands , grinding through the bar circuit, and backing visiting Blues artists such as Billy Branch, Zora Young, Deitra Farr, Paul deLay, Lucky Peterson and King Earnest Baker.
Since then ,collaborating as "CG & The Hammer", they have played hundreds of shows in clubs, concert halls and international festivals. They have toured the USA 3 times, including representing Israel twice at the International Blues challenge in Memphis, TN.

"Something good" is the band's fourth album. After more then a decade of playing Blues in Israel, the band decided to return to the source, and made the pilgrimage to Memphis TN, where they recorded 12 new songs at the Historic "Sun" studio. In this special atmosphere, recording where BB King, Howlin' Wolf, Ike Turner, Elvis, Johnny Cash and others had made their great hits, the band tapped into the magical source of the music which has inspired them.

The result is CG & The Hammer's best album to date, a unique melding of Blues , rock'n'roll and country, with the band's own original songwriting, passionate vocals, wailing harmonica and fiery guitar.

"Has some sweet sounds to catch your ear...this one is a winner!" - Kyle M Palarino, "Blues Revue"

Israel's leading music critic and radio DJ, Yoav Kutner , wrote in "Israel Today" newspaper: "A first class Blues album, probably their best yet...They sound great together, full of passion and musical joy...fantastic. So warm, so soulful, so beautiful"

We hope you enjoy listening to "Something good – the Memphis sessions".

Great Album!
Great album, any blues lover will love the music, amazing harmonica playing, all original stuff.
Memphis must really have inspired this band, their previous stuff was good but this is really inspired!

Something [really] Good
It's a special joy watching musicians develop their art and distill it until the results give you that special rush. I was listening to the radio and a song grabbed my ear. Then it happened again a few days later with another song, and then again. Every time - it was the special sound and the ultra-tight vocal harmonies interplay with the close ensemble instrumentation that usually doesn't happen with most blues. This stuff is so much more. Dov and CG have polished their riffs into musical magnificence. Shoot - I just convinced myself to get their album rather than fish for them on the radio. Lots of good music came out of that magical studio in Memphis. Looks like it's still churning out "Something Good"; actually something really good. Check it out.

Great Album
Great album - all original, a great collection of new sounds. Especially enjoyed the first track with the slide guitar! Look forward to hearing more slide guitar on your next album .
