Well, it’s finally here! The brand new eleven song album, Beautiful Feet, has arrived in its shiny little packages, all set to come to a CD player near you and keep your toes tapping all day long.

Last year Chad started to feel like he needed a little more creativity in his life. He’s always loved writing and recording music, so he decided he would challenge himself to write and record a new song every week in 2013. So, he started.

He had just gotten a banjo for Christmas, and since he was having fun playing around with that, a lot of the songs had a bluegrass and country feel to them. He made it through week eight in 2013 before he decided he really didn’t have time to write a song every week and record it in our garage. And, that was the end of that.

Fast forward a few months. We sang at a funeral. And, there just happened to be an incredibly generous oil man from Midland in the audience who just happened to have recently built an amazing recording studio. And, he invited us to come out and record the song we sang at the funeral. And, while you’re at it, he said, why don’t you record eight or ten other songs?

Well, Chad just happened to have eight brand new songs that he had written last year. Can you believe that? I mean, really.

If you want to know the short version of the really, really long story, Chad has been in recording studios before. In another life, he was in a band in Nashville, (the Luxury Liners) trying to make it big. We had so much fun living in Nashville, but that didn’t last too long before he decided to go to law school.

After practicing law for several years, he felt like God was calling him to ministry, and he became the worship leader at a church in Texarkana. Five years later, we landed in MudRock Studios. So, my rock star, turned lawyer, turned worship leader, turned pastor husband finally came back in a recording studio a good fifteen years later.

And God has been in it all. Following Him can really be fun.

Refreshing and Enjoyable
I am a city dweller and I recently took some fellow urbanites to the country and they kept saying that they were feeling relaxed just driving through picturesque fields and green landscapes. That was before we even reached our scenic destination. If there is a musical equivalent to this journey to a pastoral setting it is Beautiful Feet by Chad and Melissa Edgington.
There is no question what this music is -Gospel, bluegrass, old country; but what sets this album apart is that the Edgingtons aren't trying to play a part, indulging a desire to be "country folk." They have simply found a form that fits their sense of style, their approach to God, and their musical wheelhouse. With Chad's understated Southern gospel twang and Melissa's beautiful harmonies backed by a talented group of musicians out of Midland's Mudrock Recording studio, this is comfortable and refreshing music that takes you someplace so that you can appreciate where you are and whose your are.
There are plenty of hot pickin tunes on this album that will make traditionalists happy but the songs that truly standout are the slower numbers that put chills on your arms, "Rolled Away" and "What Will You Do With Jesus?" A I listened, I kept double checking the liner notes to see which songs were written by other people. These songs have such a mid-20th century feel to them that I thought they had to be written by others but only two are covers, the rest are written by Chad and they are timeless and memorable.
I would recommend this album to anyone in need of a back to basics musical experience where the Gospel is straight forward and the sounds are warm and heartfelt.
