ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
JAN 4, 2009 - CHANTAL CHAMBERLAND NOMINATED -
FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR - CANADIAN SMOOTH JAZZ AWARDS

This is Our Time, is an impressive sampling of sultry originals and traditional standards, delivered in Chamberland's trademark seductive vocal style.

"Music is an expression of life - in all its beauty, sorrow and delight. This is especially true of Jazz which has always been my passion. Intrigued by the musical and emotional legacy of the great Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Horn and Edith Piaf, it is my admiration of these legends that is the inspiration for "This is our Time".

- THIS IS OUR TIME - IN REVIEW -

Slow burning passion and world-weary grit coalesce in the sultry, urban nightclub-style vocals of Chantal Chamberland. The Canadian singer/songwriter mines the depths of emotion once again with her album

THIS IS OUR TIME, a collection of original compositions, pop covers and classic torch songs. With her mature, aggressive vocal delivery, Chamberland turns each of these songs into an intense display of soul-searching poignancy.Included is a lusciously smoky rendition of the Peggy Lee classic "Fever,"an already sensual song that Chamberland makes even more potent. Also included are covers of Edith Piaf's "La Vie en Rose" and The Eurythmics'"Here Comes the Rain Again"

" Chantal has always had the ability to create moving, atmospheric music out of pop arrangements, and now she effortlessly transfers that ability to jazz... sparse but never empty, This Is Our Time is a smoky affair that manages to avoid the glossy trappings to which some jazz recordings succumb."

Chamberland puts a unique spin on Edith Piaf's beautiful "La vie en rose" as well as her lead-off radio single "Here Comes The Rain Again", first made famous by the Eurythmics.

"This is our time showcases Chamberland's talent for jazz with deep, resonating, passionate vocals."

Sultry voice sets you up
That sultry voice sets you up for relaxing in front of the fire place with a great glass of wine and a love. I have told my music connoisseur friends to add this and Serendipity Street to their CD inventory and monitor their pleasure scale.

time is our time
WOW me and my 15 yr old daughter last weekend while on a trip to Provincetown,MA. It was playing in a card/art shop we were in and I immediately had to buy it. We both have listened to it multiple times. What a beautiful voice and so relaxing to listen to...

Romantic! Sultry! Intoxicating! Speaks to your soul!
I first heard Chantal in Saugatuck, MI in 10/2008 while on a date with a new romance. WOW-what a way to start and continue a new romance! I immediately bought all 4 CDs and copied them to my computer and car hard drives for frequent listening. Chantal's music is indeed unique and addicting!

the best female vocal I have hear in a long long time.
I first heard Chantel's voice in a little boutique in Nevada while on a little vacation. I fell in love with her Serendipity cd. I have played this so many times I think I will need to buy another one soon as the cd is wearing thin. Loving her sound, made me search out and buy her other cd "This is our time". I have been playing these while friends are over and they all have the same reaction, WOW, Who is that! Everyone of them have fallen in love with her voice. I love the the words she chooses to intertwine with her flow of the music. the words are mesmerizing and spell binding and really translate the music. I really hope she keeps making cds. She needs to advertise in the USA more. Most music stores I go to have never hear of her. That is a real loss for those of us who like fine music and not the cookie cutting kind. Keep it coming.

I felt like I was back in Paris again
This woman has a great voice, honest and sensual and non-commercial, like Europe, what American music whould like to be if it had a clue.

This is our time
I now have four of her cd's and I absolutely love her music. I like her style, voice, songs and have been enjoying them since I got them. My last two arrived in perfect condition and very, very, timely. Thank you. She does remind me of some of my other favorites, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, Peggy Lee, Diana Krall, Edith Piaf, and to me she sounds like Julie London as well. If 5 stars is the tops I give her 5 plus more. Thanks for your good service.
