ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The combination of voice and piano offers many creative possibilities. Few other pairings can produce the same range of expression, from introspective to exuberant to everything in between. It's only natural then that vocalists and pianists should be drawn to one another, energized by the potential synergies.

When we first began this project we decided that we wanted to collaborate not only as performers, but also as composers. At the time, we knew that we liked to play music together but we didn't really know if we could write music together. We were delighted to discover that in many ways it was easier than writing music in isolation.

Sharing in the responsibilities for a composition's creation and development freed us up in a way that often led to wonderfully unpredictable outcoms. In the process, we discovered that our aesthetic ideals were uncannily aligned.

Our musical journey took about two years from conception to completion. At times we wandered down some musical dead ends (leaving more than a few smoldering wrecks behind) but we always managed to get back on track. Along the way we learned a lot from each other. We grew both musically and personnally and, not unimportantly, we had a lot of fun! We hope you enjoy the results of our efforts.
