ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Channel 23 calls their music Tryptafunk. It is a blend of heavy soul, funk, dub, rock, tryp-hop and hard bop, performed by some of San Francisco's most potent musicians. The band is fronted by Eenor who also played with The Les Claypool Frog Brigade. Memorable vocal songs remain the focus of this cd, however it is peppered with some experimental flavors, and ripping instrumentals. Recorded on all tube gear, the sound is full, raw, and fat. Running at 66:30, with 17 tracks you get over an hour of one of San Francisco's most innovative groups.

Great tunes, mediocre recording quality
I found these guys on Pandora.com after styling a station after Galactic. I think "The Plantiff" was the track that kept rotating into my playlist, and I loved it. The music is outstanding...a little more jazz/fusion than funk, but still very nice. However, comma, the recording quality leaves a lot to be desired. It's very brash in the lower treble ranges...I wouldn't mention it except it makes the disc somewhat unlistenable at higher volumes unless you have an EQ. Other than that, highly recommended. If you're a rip-to-FLAC person (or other lossless format) like myself, you can experiment with some EQ settings for the rip to eliminate this as a problem.

Would love to see another release from these guys.
