Album Notes
In some ways this album is over 50 years in the making. The Charades have become an icon in the California Central Valley performing and recording with many musicians and in many styles. The idea of this CD was a compilation of many songs and musicians that have been a part of The Charades.

Most of the songs are original and is some cases songs started years ago and not finished until now. We have gathered members past and present to record a diverse song list that represents all the styles that have been part of the group over these many years. If you like doo wop, soul, rock & roll, country or jazz, there is something here for you. This CD is Connections to The Charades.

This CD is dedicated to the memory of Alex Pilkington, Johnny “Buddy” Johnson, Eddie Cuellar, John Keith.

Special thanks to, Art Stewart, David Ritz, Tom Johnston, Tony Hilder, Bruce Morgan, Happy Harold, Mark del Costello, Steve Puntolillo, Bob & Walt Mah, Bill Ingram The Charades past and present and all of the musicians that participated in this project and especially to Kirk Reese who put up with my endless changes and suggestions.

Ray Baradat
The Charades

“I met The Charades and Ray Baradat in the mid 70’s during a recording session for a film soundtrack. Ray and I became lifetime friends and we recorded two albums of the Charades over the years. While I was producing Marvin Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up’.
I got The Charades to overdub some parts on the basic track so I would have something to convince Marvin to finish the track. I’m happy to be part of this CD, Love you guys.”

Art Stewart Motown Engineer & Producer.

"I worked with the Charades when I still lived in the valley and they
were one of the reasons I'm still in the music business today. They
were professional, had a great show, and I learned a great deal about
singing from my time spent with them."

Tom Johnston "Doobie Brothers"

“When it comes to straight--up soul-harmony singing groups, the Charades are exemplary. I'm grateful that Ray Baradat has kept their precious legacy alive. “

David Ritz
Author of biographies for Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, B.E. King, Etta James
Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, Jerry Wexler
