ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Sonido Alegre" which in Spanish means, "a joyful sound", represents original music with Spanish flavor and Flamenco flair, influenced by the several trips Charles Guy has taken to the Riviera Nayarit in Mexico. His songs, composed on nylon string guitar, came to full fruition with the addition of Linda Powers' gypsy violin improvisations. Both musicians have a rich history of musical styles ranging from Charles' electric guitar funk/rock days, steel string acoustic and nylon string guitar work in various bands; to Linda's bluegrass and old-timey fiddle music days, before moving on to the "swing style" of violin playing in her different gypsy swing bands. The confluence of these two musicians along with the vibrant percussion accompaniment of Mike Fitch, creates the unique and fascinating sound of "Sonido Alegre".
