Album Notes
In 1978, I had the opportunity to write a series of pieces and to record them at CBC in Edmonton with a trio, with the great Tom Doran on drums, and John Sereda on bass. I was able to record on an excellent piano, and I had my Fender-Rhodes Suitcase model piano alongside, which added a variety and richness to the overall sound. Recently, I was fortunate to get a release from CBC of these tracks and now at last can issue them. I hope they are as enjoyable to listen to as they were to record.

In 2018 I thought it was time to combine these CBC tracks with some current piano trio sounds. The 2018 tracks feature some new tunes that I wrote relatively recently. The latest trio features two of the most talented musicians around: Mike Lent on bass, and Jamie Cooper on drums. I’ve wanted to play with them for many years and it was a joyful time and simultaneously quite a learning experience.

The pieces that were recorded in 1978 have remained in my repertoire and have proven to me to be sustainable. The newer pieces recorded in 2018 have been generated over the last 15 to 20 years. I’ve always been a Bill Evans fan and have included his composition Laurie, and also an Evans inspired arrangement of Autumn Leaves. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the fine playing of this band.
