Album Notes
Who is Charlie Beaux and where did he come from? No one is quite too sure of his history, and he divulges little about it in person. However, I and a few other dedicated fans have worked with Charlie to bring him to new listeners. What we do know about Charlie is that he lives life on the road, and has endured deep pain and hardships but also laughter and joy as we all have. This collection of music clearly represents that. When listening you will find yourself connecting and relating to Charlie, but curious to know more about this almost mythological individual. Curses & Prayers is currently the only available recorded works of his with a narrowed down selection of 7 songs that span the past 10 years of his life. During a stint in Denver Charlie assembled The Broken Band, and recorded each track of this EP live in one take straight to 2 inch tape. As a fan this is appealing because what you hear is as real as it gets. No bells and whitles, no copying and pasting, and no editing or digital corrections; Charlie and his band bare all. Will we ever hear more recordings of Charlie? Will you ever see Charlie Beaux and The Broken Band perform? I sure would like to think so, but only time will tell. Though you might just cross paths with him one day on the streets. Until then there is Curses & Prayers.
