ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is the first recording effort put forth by the duo of Charlie Lewis and Celia Hollander Lewis, even though they have appeared in many venues throughout Ohio and neighboring states for the last decade and one half.

Charlie & Celia originally met and sang together as members of the Appalachian Green Parks Project in the 1970's. Green Parks was a project of the Ohio Valley Summer Theatre and Ohio University that became the official Bicentennial performance touring group for the State of Ohio. The two went their separate ways after college only to meet up again years later.

In the intervening years, Charlie was a member of some notable music acts including The New Vinton County Frogwhompers Marching, Singing, Strumming and Plucking Society and A Touch of Grass. Celia appeared on cabaret club stages in New York City singing with two of her sisters, and played orchestral harp in venues across the country.

"In 1988 we re-connected and made our debut as a duo at O'hooley's, a local Athens establishment," Charlie Lewis explains. Within a year, he and Celia Hollander were married, and within two years, they moved to Athens County. For a short time they performed as "Alive & Kickin'."

"We played numerous shows for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, touring many Ohio State Parks and appearing at the ODNR exhibit at the Ohio State Fair. There were shows for other outdoor venues as well as clubs and restaurants all over Ohio and neighboring states," Lewis notes.

In the mid-1990's they joined with Charlie's cousin, Bill Mullins, and performed as The Mighty Fine Re-Formulated All-Purpose Family Band.

The couple left Athens County for Cleveland in 1996, performing there for 4 years, and then spent 20 months in Florida, continuing to share their music with residents in the Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Boca Raton areas. Celia offers that "the children (as did we) wanted to come back home, to Athens, County, Ohio, so here we are."

"People ask us for a CD at the conclusion of every show we play, so we figured it was time we gave them one," Charlie laughs. "It took us a while, but we got the message."

man--this is nice stuff!!!
I too am an old Frogwhomper fan and to hear charlie's voice again took me back to the Bojangles days in the big 'A'. I swear, I heard a subliminal Fox on the Run!
Very nice duets--Celia has a beautiful voice.

Great to hear Charlie's voice again!
I was a Frogwhomper fan back in the 70's and had not heard Charlie sing since then -- great to hear him and Celia sounding so wonderful and to be able to own a CD of their music!

Charlie and Celia should be heard regularly on Mountain Stage!
Through sweet melodies and lush, full arrangements, Charlie and Celia's new CD Snapshot is the type of music that one might hear on NPR's Mountain Stage. I have no doubt their music will find it's way there at some point. Between the myriad of string instruments (dulcimer, harp, banjo, guitar) and the full, satisfying vocal arrangements, this CD will give pleasure to anyone looking for a kind of down-home comfort.
