Album Notes
Blues fans will get their money's worth from this one. Fifteen new original songs - almost 80 minutes of music - featuring the most popular blues artists from the Tampa Bay area and beyond.

This CD documents the thriving music scene in St Pete - it includes a 12-page booklet with lots of photos and information about the artists and sidemen.

Charlie Morris brought all these folks into the studio for a series of casual jam sessions, and here's the result.

Betty Fox burst onto the scene like a hurricane a few years ago, and now rules the Bluescoast and beyond. She’s a winner of the Suncoast Blues Challenge, and has just released her second CD.

What can I say about Lucky Peterson? This man just is the blues. His daddy James (who I was also honored to play with a few times) ran a club in Chicago, and Lucky quickly became a child prodigy, playing with cats like Wolf and Muddy before becoming music director for Little Milton. He’s toured the world and sold millions of records. His casual command of both guitar and B-3 is breathtaking.

Bill Wharton (The Sauce Boss) is famous for the righteous gumbo he cooks on his gigs, but he’s one mighty rootsy slide player too. This guy has played all over the world, at every kind of festival where music is played or food is served.

Damon Fowler is the Bay area’s international star. He started as something of a teen prodigy in the 1980s, and has gone from triumph to triumph since. He’s recorded two CDs on Blind Pig Records, has played with everybody from BB King to. His latest project is playing guitar in the Butch Trucks Band.

TC Carr is one of the very best harmonica players in the world, and if you think I’m exaggerating, ask Bo Diddley, Charlie Daniels, Dickey Betts, Gregg Allman, Jimmy Buffett or Susan Tedeschi. He’s been one of the Bluescoast’s top stars for decades, and has just won the Suncoast Blues Challenge and released his third CD of original blues. He’s also a mainstay of Tom Gribbin’s Saltwater Band and the Mad Beach Band.

George Harris is a household name on the Bluescoast. At the legendary Panda and at his new Creative World, he’s recorded
thousands of artists - not just the Sauce Boss, Damon, Betty and TC, but biggies from Les Paul to Lynyrd Skynyrd. George plays guitar in the Greg Billings Band and his own Soupbone. When it comes to sheer guitar skill, and encyclopedic knowledge of everything to do with music, nobody in town can touch George.

Jimmy Griswold has got guitar chops to give away, and is one of the hardest working cats on the Bluescoast. An alum of Rock Bottom’s band, he stays busy playing solo and with his band, and has a couple of CDs of original music out.

Shawn Brown has regaled Tampa Bay audiences for more than four decades with his electrifying blues, gospel and jazz. His band is one of the most coveted tickets in the area.

Josh Nelms is the toast of the town - his guitar licks amaze everyone who hears him. He’s played with all the hepcats on the Bluescoast. A bulwark of Betty Fox’s band, he also holds the guitar chair in TC Carr’s Bolts of Blue.

Lori Cherry is a longtime musical pal - I’ve played in her band, she’s sung in mine, I helped out on her CD of original music. Her talents range beyond blues to jazz and funk.

Sandy Atkinson is a great singer and songwriter who’s gigged for many years around the Bluescoast and the world, as well
as a winner of the Suncoast Blues Challenge. The duet that we recorded on my CD Still got ‘em turned out to be one of my most requested songs of all time.
