Album Notes
"Chicago" Bob's new record "Flyin' Too High" FEATURING DAVID MAXWELL on piano with "Monster" Mike Welch on guitar is the first release in ten years for the man that Muddy Waters nicknamed.

With an extensive live performance resume including John Lee Hooker and Johnny Shines, Nelson's rejuvenated style steeped in the "post-war" Blues with a semi-modern sound is a true Blues fans delight. Maxwell, who also produced the CD, is on top of the ivories along with "Monster" Mike Welch and Troy Gonyea tasty blues guitar licks. "Flyin' Too High" contains 14 tracks with a mix of Nelson penned originals and not your run of the mill covers. Deep, smoky and sometimes humorous vocals with top shelf harmonica by "Chicago" Bob make this disc a great a must have for any fan of the Blues.

Kenny Kilgore

Best album of his career
Hands down, the best album of Chicago Bob Nelson's career thus far. Vocals are in top form, and the song selection is of high caliber. Band plays extremely appropriately, yet has a modern fire. Fine job from David Maxwell's producing, as he keeps the focus on Chicago Bob, yet highlights the musicians as well. If you're an old school blues fan, you'll definitely want to add this to your collection. If you're new to blues, it's a great place to start. Highly recommended!

Gteat Stuff!,should be album of the year!
This music is the right medicine for starving Chicago Blues addicts! It's been awhile since I've heard great Chicago style Blues in the manner of Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters. Monster Mike Welch has been dicovered! Flat Top....
