Album Notes
“I alone am the ripple. Together we are a wave.” - Dene Menzel

The World 4 Peace Project is a unique global peace initiative created by musician, author and entrepreneur, Dene Menzel as part of her virtual choir, Choir In The Cloud, founded in 2015.

200 singers from over 20 countries over cyberspace have been united to sing a beautifully transformed re-write of Australian Poem, Waltzing Matilda (World 4 Peace), in the lead up to the International Day of Peace (Sept 21), the song to be released on iTunes in July 2016 to raise funds for UNICEF.

The inspiration for this newly composed version of Waltzing Matilda was ignited by Dene’s 5 year old daughter, Mackinlay: “As a parent - we all dream of a better world for our children, and our children’s children to live in. Collectively, as parents we all have the same hopes and dreams, wherever we may call home around the world. What better way to share our hopes and dreams around our planet than through the gift of music.”

Joining the crusade is UK group Gospel Singers Incognito, and multi- award winning Australian singer Kate Ceberano, who has been selected to lead the 200-strong choir.

The re-written lyrics reflect on our responsibility to the next generation to create a better world. “I look at my little one, she bears the heavy cost of all the mistakes that I leave”. As Kate continues to sing, she invites the 200-strong choir, and each of us to answer the call in joyous chorus “Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, will you come a Waltzing Matilda with me?”

No longer a humble bush ballad, Waltzing Matilda has been transformed into a powerful anthem of global peace appealing to humanity: “Who will Waltz? Who will lead? Who’ll be more than what they can be? I dream of a world that’s filled with hope and peace - Who will Waltz a Matilda with me?”.

The World 4 Peace message is not a complicated message. It however addresses a suggestion to look to ourselves, to take some responsibility to care for each other on this planet - a small random act of kindness to a stranger, a photo-selfie for peace on social media to spread peace consciousness, donating old clothes to a charity instead of throwing them in the bin. And if you already do those things, it’s about thinking what else you can do. The World 4 Peace Message is something in ourselves that each of us can do better, to create a better world. After all, this planet is home for all of us.

We hope to share the message as far as it will go, to make a difference around the planet, and to make a better world for the generations to come, then we will have done our job.

So, will you come a Waltzing Matilda with me?

"This haunting yet contemporary arrangement of what is a classically iconic Australian piece – is both brilliantly emotive and inspirational. Kate Ceberano’s vocal interpretation is perfectly executed and almost angelic. Just beautifully put together as a modern folkloric treatment of a virtual national anthem." - R. Deegan (Drummer/Senior Editor DRUMscene Magazine, Australia)

"One word, WOW! Kate Cebrano is magnificent in leading the choir. The song is a beautiful compilation of voices and harmony." - B.Vlahos (Radio Host 100.5 WOWFM)

"Thanks for sharing this sensational new interpretation of Waltzing Matilda. The idea of singers from everywhere sharing voices for a peaceful cause is wonderful, and Kate’s soulful voice as lead makes for a very special piece of music. Congratulations. I wish you great success, hopeful that the world is listening." R.Burgess (Australian radio and television presenter)
