The story behind our new concept CD "The Invisible World"...

Two brothers are hunting deer in the nearby woods. The older brother hears a noise behind them and turns to see a mountain lion stalking his brother and about to pounce. He quickly pushes him aside, pulls his knife from its sheath and lunges towards the mountain lion as it leaps through the air. They collide and crash to the ground. The knife plunges into the mountain lion’s side as they both roll over a small ravine. Below, the young man lay unconscious and the mountain lion dead.

The younger brother runs back to his village for help. The men carry the elder brother, who is falling in and out of consciousness, back to the village to the clan’s medicine man. His family stands by and prays as the medicine man chants and shakes a rattle over his limp body. Other tribe members send up smoke and prayers for him including the spirit race of Nunnehi, who can be heard in the distance hills beating drums and dancing.

The soul of the injured young warrior slowly lifts from his body and drifts into the Skypath. He soars through what seems like space and time, crossing the threshold into The Invisible World. All around him, elements of both worlds converge into one. Then, without warning, he is pulled down into the Shadowland, a place of judgment and redemption. He is alone and scared. Strange sounds can be heard from behind the shadows, shapeless figures lurk in the darkness. He prays to Creator for guidance. As an answer to his prayer, the Spirits of his ancestors start to manifest and surround him. He gives thanks to Creator through the circling winds for sending protection. One of the ancestors appears beside him holding a thick woven thread stretching up to a small light that looks like a distant star. He climbs the thread. The further he climbs the larger and brighter the light becomes until he finds himself surrounded by the ever-present light of the Wakan Tanka. As the light fades, he realizes he is standing on the edge of a mountain, and stretched out before him is the happy hunting ground.

Instantly, his mind is flooded with a deeper understanding of the things of this world and the one he has left behind. Overwhelmed with the emotions of all he has seen, for just a moment, he closes his eyes. When he opens them, he sees his younger brother standing over him smiling. He sees his mother crying and his father, hands outstretched, thanking Creator for sparing his life. He tells them about his journey into the invisible world, his glimpse beyond the veil and wonders to himself if it was only a dream.
