Album Notes
Singer/Songwriter/Native New Yorker Chris Abad first cut his teeth on the Northeastern music scene as the lead singer and primary songwriter for his four-piece alterna-pop rock band, Dough. Before going their separate ways several years ago, Dough released two albums, appeared on MTV, played countless shows, and garnered a diverse following throughout the Northeast. In addition to his work with Dough, Chris has recently branched out into the realm of acoustic and solo performance, taking with him his mixed bag of pop, new-wave and punk-inspired songs. Chris Abad’s first solo release, ‘The Starting Point’ marked a new beginning for this NYC singer/songwriter, trading in the polished electric guitar attack of his former band Dough, for the stripped-down, acoustic sounds of his solo debut. With deeply personal lyrics set against a sparse musical landscape, Chris brings a decidedly darker and different twist to his signature pop sound. In 2009, Chris released his second solo effort, ‘No Glory,’ produced by Travis Harrison at his Serious Business Music studio in NYC. Combining his melodic and muscular brand of guitar-driven pop with elements of 80’s and 90’s alt rock, ‘No Glory’ marked a return to Chris’ modern rock roots. In Fall 2013, Chris will be releasing his third solo album, “Darling Dear.”

New Wonderful Experience
Do you remember blasting The Gin Blossoms New Miserable Experience or Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend out the car windows in the early 1990's? Well if you're jonesing for that kind of smooth melody-drive pop look no further than Chris Abad's excellent new Darling Dear. The first track "Lucky One" can't help but remind me of Crowded House. While "Routine" "Josephine" and "Wide Awake" all share that sweet Gin Blossoms sound (especially "Josephine" which feels like a lost track from New Miserable Experience.) The other thing this record has in common with NME & Girlfriend is a consistently sunny vibe from start to finish. So roll down the car windows, let the sun shine in your face, and let this joyous music completely wash over you!
