Album Notes
I grew up in big cities but live now in a smaller town up north. I love lyrics steeped in word-play, candour, and hope. I always start with the story, and then move to the lyrics. The lyrics always suggest the music, so that is the easy part. I wrote “Isolated Town” in 1995 and included it on my self-released seven-song CD, “Mashed Potato Face”, in 2000. It was only a 100-copy run. I never promoted the CD as I was not pursuing a music career full-time.

Years later, doing music (piano tuning, guitar lessons, song-writing, recording, performing and publishing) full-time, I still did not promote the CD, as there was something about each of the seven songs I was not satisfied with. In 2012 I made a small edit near the end of the song, “Isolated Town”. I was happy with the results. In October 2012 I mailed an .mp3 and a .wav of the newly-edited version of the song to Markus Schwabe at CBC Morning North in Sudbury, Ontario. On 29-Nov-2012, a friend called me in the afternoon to congratulate me that they had played "Isolated Town" on CBC Morning North that morning at 6:45!

"Isolated Town", with just my vocals and acoustic guitar (and simple bass for a little bottom-end), was the favourite song among my fans. However, after working with the incredibly creative drummer, John O'Reilly Jr. on a few other songs, I was curious as to how "Isolated Town" would sound with drums. After a lot of creative back-and-forth between John and I, and mixing and add-on mastering (to the original) by George Witham, I birthed "Isolated Town (Remix)". I hope you enjoy the results.

I have also written several songs with my daughter, Devon, and we are now writing another. Writing music with my daughter is an indescribable pleasure.
