Album Notes
Chris Cates is a prolific independent artist from the mountains of North Carolina now living in Atlanta. "Life's a Love Song" was born when Cates wrote and recorded a song every day in 2010 and finished in the car, job trailer and Hampton Inn while he was building one megawatt solar farms in south Georgia.

One of the "greenest" musicians, in the world, Cates has recycled a million pounds of materials before moving on to build and develop almost twenty megawatts of solar in the past few years (enough to power a county or two).

Life's a Love Song features Cates playing all of the instruments (drums, guitar, bass, harmonica, synths, piano, mandolin, ukulele and vocals), with John Kell on sax and backing vocals and Adair Cates and Rob Sankey on backing vocals.

The album spans a few genres but really has an old school funky jazzy pop vibe with poignant lyrics and dense production. However, there are a few acoustic songs that may be the most powerful songs, "Moonlight Madness" (a co-write with Jefferson Taffet) being especially emotional.

"Moonlight Madness, The Square Root of Joy, This Might Tickle Just A Little, and No Such Thing As Luck" so far are my favorites, which will others as they grow on me as a listener. I've heard many songs, MANY, songs by Young Christopher Wilson Ford Cates, and this album is very, very different in sound, and vibe than most jams that I've heard. These new songs have kind of the epic movie feel to them, as if you could picture it playing on a soundtrack to your favorite movie. "Cates" did a GREAT job with this one, tho, "TumbleWeed" from *Dead Man's Suit* will always be MY absolute favorite since it was the very first song of his that I heard since meeting and working with him. This album also has that quality to be everyone's favorite... This album is a must buy, and I'd recommend it to anyone, that is looking for good positive music to listen too.....
