Album Notes
As evidenced by his continuing pursuit of individual and group forays into diverse musical territories, Chris Church is a musician and writer who doesn't shun any of his varying influences.
After two progressive hard rock outings with his band Dang, Chris makes a bold return to his power pop origins with his new record, Limitations of Source Tape. Not a concept record, but a construct of power pop influences, the 14 song album features loud, crunchy guitars and catching, lilting melodies that yield a natural sonic canvas for his blend of thoughtful lyrics ans attention to song-craft.
The first single, "Something Completely", is a riff-heavy yearning, prototypical pop rock stunner sweetened by hand claps, soaring call and response background vocals, and multiple guitar solos. With tracks that are fun to sing and lyrics that are worth contemplating, Limitations of Source Tape will resonate with fans of Teenage Fanclub, Nada Surf, The Posies, Todd Rundgren, Big Star, Marshall Crenshaw, Cheap Trick, Bill Lloyd, Velvet Crush, et al.
