ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Praised for his “smooth tone and melodic flexibility” by Melinda Bargreen of The Seattle Times, Chris Dickey is an artist-teacher of tuba and euphonium in the United States. Currently, he is on the faculty at Washington State University. At WSU, he teaches the tuba-euphonium studio, coaches chamber music, and performs in the Equinox Brass Quintet. Garnering an international artistic reputation, Dickey has been a featured artist at festivals in Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, China, and Vietnam. He maintains a busy performance schedule with orchestras, brass bands, and at universities and conferences throughout the United States. His two previous solo recordings, Just a Thought (2015) and Dulcet Voice (2017), have received critical accolades from the brass community. The In Motus Tuba Quartet, for which he plays first tuba, has released two professional albums, In Motus (2016) and Shadows: The Music of Octubaween (2018). His publications are available through BVD Press, Cimarron Music, and Absolute Brass. Dickey earned a Doctor of Music degree from Northwestern University, a Master of Arts degree from The University of Iowa, and a Bachelor of Music degree, summa cum laude, from Eastern Illinois University. His former teachers include Rex Martin, John Manning, and Allan Horney.
