Album Notes
Children’s musician Chris Hamilton follows up his critically-acclaimed, kid-and-parent-loved Sticky Situations CD (2004) with Boogie Child, an all-new collection of 15 lively, original songs celebrating the sillier side of modern life for school-age kids.

On Boogie Child:
"This is a fine album for families (my three-year old asks for it by name) and could find a place in any classroom peopled with young dancing machines. Recommended."
- CM: Canadian Review of Materials

"This is a collection that both parents and children will love to listen to over and over again...In class, at home, or even with Mom in the Minivan this CD is sure to please!"
- Resource Links

"It is best enjoyed where there's room for dancing but great in the car, too!"
- Edmonton's Child

"There's a new kids' musician on the block, and he'll have you and your children singing and dancing along to his tunes faster than you can say 'Worm Germs'!"
- Greater Victoria Public Library Staff Picks webpage

The story of Boogie Child: Chris Hamilton meets many families who share their hilarious anecdotes and for Boogie Child he took inspiration from those stories to create the songs “I Didn’t Know” & “Mamma’s In the Minivan”. He also finds humour in seemingly mundane events for songs like “The Worst Haircut” and “The Dentist” then jumps to total silliness for songs like “Worm Germs”, “Silly Songs” and “You’re An Animal!”, a current ‘hit’ at his live shows. Songs like “Middle Child Blues”, “Super-powered Superhero” and “Six to Eight Weeks” spring directly from Hamilton’s own childhood experiences.

Without ever getting preachy, Hamilton also cleverly works in a few positive ideas about global awareness, co-operation and self-esteem in “Kids Are Kids Around the World”, “Let’s Build” and the title tune “Boogie Child”.

Best known for his humour, offstage Hamilton takes children’s music very seriously. “Kids deserve quality music and quality writing. The parents who buy my CDs should feel like that was money well spent,” he says. From the rehearsals and recording to manufacturing he insists that everyone involved treat the project with the same professionalism as a recording for adults.

To that end, Hamilton has once again gathered many of his friends in the Vancouver music scene to fill out the sound for Boogie Child including musicians who have played with The Clumsy Lovers, 54-40 and The Paperboys along with the regulars from his terrific back-up group, the Sticky Jam Band. Many musicians were required for the different sounds on Boogie Child because Hamilton crosses the musical map from Rock to Funk, Blues to Punk, Bluegrass to Beatnik Jazz, Ska and even Disco!

About Chris Hamilton: Chris is quickly becoming one of Canada’s favourite children’s musicians by constantly performing at festivals, theatres, schools, shopping centres, libraries and anywhere else kids are. He has been performing for children since 2003 and now averages around 80 shows per year. His Sticky Situations CD was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for “Outstanding Children’s Recording” and for two "Just Plain Folks Music Awards" in the Children's Album and Children's Song categories. He is married and lives in Surrey, BC.

Appeals to adults and children
Our whole family sings along with Chris' songs (from age 6 to age 55). They're amazingly intelligent tunes that appeal to adult and child alike.

My daughter loves this CD!
My 2 year old daughter loves to dance to this CD, her favorite song is Worm Germs. She had a temper tantrum this morning and there was no calming her down, she only stopped crying and squirming when I told her I would put Worm Germs on. Thanks for the great music and we look forward to seeing Chris and the Sticky Jam Band live on Nov 12/06.

Chris Hamilton's Sticky Situations and Boogie Child
Wow, what a fantastic addition to the mini van CD player! They are great! My kids love them. I have a 3 yr old daughter and a 2 year old son. My CD library now consists of Fisher Price, Dora, and now Chris, thank-you.

The kids love Boogie Child
We’ve only started playing it and they already have several favourites. They both love dancing to "Boogie Child", my daughter loves “You’re an Animal”, raising her hands over her head the minute it comes on the mini-van like a monkey...My son loves “Super-powered Superhero” (also my favourite), bobbing his head to the beat and laughs at the underwear line in “I Didn’t Know”. My daughter giggles through the entire song... We also play the CD for them to dance to in the kitchen.

I think the album is great and the musicians are excellent. Every song is different from the next, so the album doesn’t drone on like the bargain basement “Puff the Magic Dragon and other hits in the public domain” keyboard specials.

I was not sure that Chris Hamilton could do it... BUT...
this second cd is as enjoyable as his first!! My two sons love the music, and I have to admit that after I drop them off at daycare, I STILL keep the music music on!! I find that every time I head on an errand with the boys, that I
start singing the "mamma's in the minivan" song before I am even out of the driveway!! Makes me laugh! AWESOME!!!
