Album Notes
Chris Hickey released two solo LP´s in the mid 80´s, and he could be considered to be lo-fi even before the term was popular to use on simple but great home recordings like this. Chris has later released several other great records, both under his own name and with the band UMA.

Longtime Fan

Timeless Masterpieces
I wore out the vinyl of these albums back in the 80's and 90's. I never thought I'd hear them on CD. He did a wonderful job of cleaning up the background noise you would expect from such a recording. The sound quality does justice to these amazing albums. I'm enjoying them all over again in my car CD player.

Jerker Emanuelson

Two all-time favorites on one CD.
I´ve loved these two records since they came out in the mid 80´s and to have them both on one CD is totally awesome.

The Desert Island Disc
Back in the 90's "Desert Island Disc" lists were popular. It was a list of usually 10 CD's that you would bring to a deserted island. I always said that if this remote island had electricity and a CD player that would last a lifetime, it could also have the imaginary CD of my 2 favorite records - Chris Hickey's Frames of Mind, Boundaries of Time (1985) and Looking for Anything (1987). Those 2 records were never put on CD and would fit on one nicely since they are both about 30 minutes long. If my list could only have one CD, it would be this one.

I've been listening to this album regularly for 2 decades and I still love it. Chris has been writing incredibley delicate songs that are both simple and complex - in bands like Show of Hands USA and Uma, plus his own recordings. There is actually a great diversity in the songs, from the electric guitar of "Not You" to the strong message of "Man of Principle" to the love song of "When I'm With You" (used at my wedding for my first dance with my wife and at most weddings I DJ at), to harmonicas of "Contagious" there's a wide range on the CD. It's almost impossible to pick a few lines to convey the intelligent lyrics on the CD, but probably my favorite are:
Freedom is ours to pretend the chains will hold them but not me
As soon as we try to deny someone else we imprison ourselves
Freedom to choose which 2 of the bars we will put our hands through
