Album Notes
This project represents a lifetime of work. Musically speaking, the Two Voices EP was over 4 years in the making, but the content reflects God's work in Chris' life from childhood until now. On the second track, Roots, Chris speaks plainly about his past, and how Christ changed his heart and his circumstances, rooted him in his true identity, and showed him his mission and purpose in life. The clear and consistent theme of this EP is the gospel of freedom through Jesus Christ for all people.

Artistically, Two Voices is very diverse. Even so, there is a coherent theme threaded through each track and a genuine humble presentation that holds the whole EP together. Having observed and worked closely with Chris on this as he crafted this EP, this track by track construction was very important. Each song is the product of an experience, an idea, and an ongoing conversation with the Holy Spirit.

A big focus of this project is authenticity. Art is the creative expression of the artist's dreams, thoughts, and intentions. It's value should be measured in honesty. Two Voices is not designed to simply be art for art's sake though. Chris talks repeatedly in his songs about his intentions to inspire, encourage, and motivate people to seek the truth and find a more epic and fulfilling life in Jesus. Lyrics like, "I'm here to walk with you, not play for the crowds" express Chris' true ambitions for his music: not that he would become famous, but that people who listen would receive hope, and be changed by it.

As someone who has spent a good deal of time reviewing new musical releases from artists that mainstream listeners have never heard of, and likely never will hear of, I have a bit of a unique perspective when listening to these tracks. I am used to picking apart an artist's skills as they are demonstrated in their work. Can they write a hook? Are the lyrics any good? Did they develop a unique and interesting sound? Is it fun to listen to? Can I sing along? Maybe the most important question I ask myself is, did the artist succeed in accomplishing their objective as I perceived it? I can honestly say that the Two Voices EP has all these qualities. As debut releases go, this one is quite impressive, and comes highly recommended to anyone who appreciates a genuine work of art. I'm quite proud of what Chris has accomplished here as a friend and as a musician.
