Album Notes
"Listening to the music of Chris Neri feels a bit like peeking into someone's diary — only without the broken locks and shameful consequences."- the Houston Chronicle

After years of false starts, set backs and crummy jobs, New England transplant and DIY singer/songwriter Chris Neri relocated to Houston, TX to give his music career a solid kick-start. Drawing from many different influences and styles, Neri's brand of rock music is a distinctive one with a wide variety of songs that cover the entire range of human emotion from glorious highs to crushing lows, all the while giving a sardonic wink. Ultimately he wants to make his listeners think and feel but not take it all too seriously.

Some of Neri's early roots lie in various punk, proto-punk and alt-rock bands like the Replacements, Ramones, Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, the MC5, the Pixies and Guided by Voices, influences which reflect clearly in his early musical projects. Over the years he's gravitated towards a more stripped down rock sound that reflect other influences which include songwriters and performers like Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Elliot Smith, Paul Westerberg, Pete Yorn, Jesse Malin and a wide assortment of others. In his words (words he borrowed from Lenny Bruce) “Every waking moment of my life is an influence”. Neri's sound is uncompromising, one of a kind and all his own.

Neri currently stays busy playing shows, winning people over with his songs and performances and is constantly trying new things musically. Watch out for his new solo release, 'twentysomething/summerville' in the coming months.

Look out, world. He's coming for you.

Twentysomething/Summerville is charming, refreshing, and all around "feel good"
Both witty and humble, there is something about Chris Neri's Twentysomething/Summerville album that will make you want to buy in, listen, and keep listening. It's a cool breath of fresh air for today's stuffy, suffocating music scene. Imagine, with a few chords from his pure guitar you're suddenly swept into a world of real life middle America; with a longing for both future and simpler times. His empathetic lyrics about life and love are heart-warming and thought-provoking; like a sweet, simple hug. A pleasure to be sure, Twentysomething/Summerville is worth a generous listen and continued support. Look out for the very promising Chris Neri!
